Our Curriculum
Many yoga training programs can have a “one size fits all” approach to educating teachers. We at the Asheville Yoga Center believe that building a strong foundation for your own practice and teaching is key to sharing your yoga with others.
Whether you are a teacher, studio owner, practitioner or wellness advocate, your desire to bring healing to others is what unites us all as yogis. We live our practice and ground our programs in the roots of yoga while sharing a diversity of perspectives and backgrounds with our robust teaching faculty.
We think of our program as a “graduate university” for students who wish to immerse themselves in their yoga practice and learn how to help others on their yoga path. Our graduates have gone on to become studio owners, lead teacher training programs, work in the alternative wellness world and more. We are so proud of all their hard work and the ways that they continue to share yoga with the world.
300 Hour Structure: Overview
AYC’s 300-hour program is an intensive-study course with 150 hours of core curriculum that goes deep into asana, pranayama, meditation, anatomy, philosophy and more.
This core is combined with another 120 hours of electives and 30 hours of homework.
AYC’s elective topics include: philosophy, yoga for recovery, kids yoga, advanced teaching and practices, neuroscience, Ayurveda, and so much more…
We are here to support your evolution as a teacher, empowering you to practice Self Reliance and teach in from the heart. We believe that when we speak and teach from the heart we can be true conduits of the teachings, fulfilling our dharma, and illuminating the path for all.

We’re Yogis First and Teachers Second

Every teacher had their own unique gifts and were so consistently professional, caring, goal oriented, and personable. I will definitely miss this experience as I have made so many new friends and learned so much about my passion for yoga and myself and human nature in general.
Our curriculum is built by a faculty with a mixture of different backgrounds, lineages, and training styles. We have a core faculty of teacher trainers who guide you throughout the 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training program, as well as special guest instructors that share different perspectives on their particular niche.
Our core faculty includes instructors from Dharma Yoga in NYC, Anusara, Kaiut, our very own Asheville Yoga Center, and more. We are also proud to have shared faculty with The Ayurvedic Institute, the premier Ayurvedic school in the west, led by Dr. Vasant Lad.

Yoga Alliance certified 300-Hour Training
Once you graduate from our program you are able to become an accredited Registered Yoga Teacher 300 – with Yoga Alliance. This would complete your certification as a 500 hr RYT.
What You Get
Our course is resource rich and filled with useful learning aids and support materials that will enable you to get the most out of your training and set you up to begin your teaching journey!

The course is life changing. Yoga is more than the poses. The instructors are so knowledgeable of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Gita, yoga history, Chakras, Kundalini, Anatomy, Asanas, Pranayama , Meditation and more. My personal yoga practice has changed so much for the better. My last Vinyasa flow Yoga class I just taught included pranayama and meditation and I had a yoga teacher tell me it was one of the best classes she had been to in months. AYC has made me a better yoga instructor and person.

Sequence charts
Inspired by Ayurveda, you will be introduced to 3 unique AYC sequences (based on the elements of earth, water, and fire) that meet different body needs and types. You will experience these sequences through different teachers with different yoga lineages and perspectives. This form of instruction is rare in the yoga teacher training space – but enables you to graduate the program with a variety of sequences to enrich your personal practice and to guide your early teaching.
Digital library
Our digital library features 12+ hour long videos from our teaching staff including faculty from The Ayurvedic Institute & Dr. Vasat Lad. These videos will present in depth information on different topics related to the training. You will have access to this digital library for up to 6 months after your training ends so that you can refer back to the content even after the course is finished.
Open Office Hours with Instructors

300-Hour Teacher Training FAQ
Overview
Just like our 200-Hour Yoga Alliance Certification Programs, we offer our students a taste of as many lineages as possible for the most well-rounded approach. We consider our programs to be non-biased, eclectic, and inspiring, offering the “greatest hits” from the best lineages. Our staff is certified in a variety of yoga schools, including Vinyasa, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Anusara, Jivamukti, and Viniyoga, among others. By presenting different lineages of yoga, our hope is that students realize that many paths lead to the same goal, and they can then decide what resonates most with them. Our educational goal is to help release the student of their conditioned educational expectations. We are not here to indoctrinate our students. This is a noncompetitive, open-hearted educational environment with an emphasis on personal growth, taught by exceptional leaders in the yoga field.

We apologize for not having a more efficient tracking system at this time; therefore, it is always in your best interest to also track your courses yourself. We provide you these grids upon registration and can send you more if needed. We will then verify this through our system, confirm that all of your requirements have been met, and email you the link for the $50 Completion Fee. Our courses average 10–45 people per event. Often the average is 30, which can seem like a cozy room, full of people and yoga props, but our instructors give ample Q&A time — as well as small peer group teaching time — so you leave each course with the confidence to apply what you have learned.
You will be sent a tracking grid upon registration to keep a record of your credits.
