Advanced Studies Yoga Teacher Training

For 500 RYT Advanced Studies Certification

Asheville Yoga Center offers some of the best Yoga Alliance certified instructors and certified healthcare professionals in the nation. You will deepen your knowledge of yoga as you explore therapeutic yoga traditions, modalities, and yoga practices. To be eligible for this 300-Hour Certification you will need to have already obtained a 200-Hour Yoga Alliance Certification (from the Asheville Yoga Center or elsewhere).

Breathe new life into your yoga practice and teaching! Join in at any time to start your journey. Earn your 300-hour RYT (certified through Yoga Alliance) at your own pace. Combined with your 200-hour RYT, you will become a 500-hour RYT, which is the highest international standard for yoga teachers. After completing this program, you can register as an advanced yoga teacher or RYT-500 and lead teacher training yourself.

The Way It Works

Complete the yoga essentials core curriculum courses and your choice of elective courses to earn your 300-hour RYT. Begin your 300-hour journey by enrolling in either the Yoga Essentials Immersion or 8-weekend trainings in-person at our studio. The Yoga Essentials course accounts for 140 contact hours of the 270 hours required for graduation. The remaining course hours can come from any elective course from any instructor at AYC so you can pick whichever trainings are of interest to you.

The Core Curriculum Team  

Dive into AYC’s core curriculum with lead trainers Joe Taft, Richard Fabio, Shala Worsley, Tucker Shelton & Michael Johnson! This training will be live and interactive, offering students the opportunity to connect personally with the instructors. This journey will help you discover your unique gifts and sharpen your abilities to see your students with greater clarity. The curriculum includes anatomy, sequencing, theming, alignment and most importantly the breath. This training will take your teaching and personal practice to a deeper level. 4 Week Immersion

Our 4-week immersions are perfect for students who would like to fully immerse themselves in yoga and complete their Yoga Essentials training all at once in the studio. Check out our training dates below.

8 Weekend Training

Our 8-weekend program is perfect for students who have commitments and want to break up the training to suit their schedules! You will attend 1 full weekend training each month, and complete your Yoga Essentials credits in 8 months. Check out our full dates below.

Graduation Requirements

You must complete 300 total hours of study to graduate. We allow students up to 2 years to complete the training requirements. Your program hours will be a mix of contact hours and non-contact hours. Yoga alliance defines contact hours as hours that take place in the physical or virtual presence of a faculty member. Yoga alliance defines non-contact hours as hours that may take place without a faculty member present. Your non-contact hours are acquired by completing the required reading assigned for each individual training you participate in.

Hour Requirements

270 hours of your 300 need to be contact hours

• 140 hours will be from Yoga Essentials Immersion or 8-Weekend Trainings
• 130 remaining can be with any trainer as elective courses.

The 30 remaining hours need to be non-contact hours:

• Half-weekend course = 1 hour
• Weekend = 2 hours
• 3-Day = 3 hours
• 4-Day = 4 hours
• 5-Day = 5 hours

In order to graduate our program, you must complete our enrollment form and pay the $150 enrollment fee, complete the required hours outlined above, then apply for completion and pay the $50 graduation fee.
